Dong Do University (HDIU), internationally called Hanoi Dong Do International University, was established on October 3rd 1994 by Decision No. 534/TTg of the Prime Minister. HDIU is one of the first non-public universities established according to the guidelines of education socialization of the State and Party.

October 3rd is recognized as the Traditional Day of HDIU. HDIU is a multidisciplinary university which provides high-quality human resources to meet needs of socio-economic development of Vietnam. All HDIU’s training programs are created and developed as application-oriented  programs which are Basic – Advanced - Realistic. Training programs are regularly updated according to the pace of innovation and development of science and technology .

HDIU’s training programs are designed to aim at creating human resources with good political quality and moral personalities and good health.  Students are equipped with basic knowledge, practical skills and adaptation capacity to reality. Students have the ability to work independently and teamwork; all graduates always meet two basic requirements: creative thinking  and activeness in practice.

Over 20 years of development, the university has 13 faculties and sectors: Banking and Finance, Business Administration, Tourism, International Relations, Foreign Languages, Architecture, Construction, Information Technology, Electronics Telecommunications, Environmental Technologies, Information Studies, Basic Science, Political Theories. HDIU has trained more than 30,000 engineers and bachelors of 20 sectors of science, technology, engineering - technology. Most graduates have jobs, and they are in all regions to participate in socio-economic development of the country. A significant number of graduates have continued to take higher education to achieve Master degree and PhD. Many graduates from HDIU now  hold important positions in organizations and agencies of the State or in large businesses.

There are nearly 100 teachers working and doing research in the university; all teachers have many experiences and mostly are trained overseas. They are the Academicians, Professors, Associate Professors, PhDs, MS... They are are the Academician and leading Professors of leading basic Sciences, Economics, architecture science, Construction, Engineering - technology. The implementation of international cooperation has attracted high quality teachers and researchers  from other academies, universities and large enterprises participating in teaching and guiding students in scientific research. HDIU has established relationships with a number of oversea universities to offer students some overseas internships and short-term workshops. 

Currently HDIU has 3 training places:

- The main training place bases at Phu Nghia with the area of 4 ha composing of dozens of lectures, labs, research labs , offices with modern equipment for training and research.

- The Unit 2 is located at 170 Pham Van Dong, with an area of ​​1500 m2.

- The Unit 3 is located at 310 Nguyen Trai with an area of ​​nearly 3,000 m2 with 20 classrooms, computer rooms and laboratories.
